Pig State Recon

About

Born in Texas, raised in So. California, now happily living as a prisoner of war in far-west London. Digs puns, loud rock and roll, Axis I psychiatric disorders, Foster’s in cans, Greene King on tap, and telling the same stupid jokes, over and over and over again. Expect wordy, hyperbolic rants about music to appear on a weekly basis.

    Hello,

I am searching for the Across The River recordings
for such a long time (even tried SSt records), but
can’t get a hold of a copy. Finally I find your
great BLOG and after listening to the track you
shared, I’m wondering If you could provide me with a copy on cdr (I will pay you, or trade).
    Please let me know something.
    Thanks, Ron

If I had em, I’d make em available. But I don’t have em (other than the track I’ve posted). Try writing bassist Scott Reeder! He’s got a website out there somewhere. If he doesn’t have em, I don’t know who would.

    this long searched item.
Someone I know, contact Scott already, but he never replied, I think I will try myself..
    Anyway thanks

Hey, Ken from 611 here. Loved your bit about us! I left a message there, too. drop a line, if you are so inclined.
Thanks. It’s still a good day for weather, too.

Hi, your blog is great for finding something that i couldn’t imagine to find. so i try to ask you… i’m looking for some music:

    sleevers - unserely insecurity 7″
    “feeble efforts” - 7″
plebs - a collection of question marks 7″
    “mighty feeble” - lp
tragicomedy - hommage to nada 12″
slovenly - after the original style lp
invisible chains - invisible chains lp
Do you know a way to discover that? if you don’t have it, where can i look for…?
    Thank you

    Thanks for reading.

A few forgotten New Alliance titles (like the Slovenly LP) can still be found at http://www.roundflat.com . . . but those early titles were only ever released in small pressings, and aren’t easy to come by. So it’s back to Ebay, I’d reckon.

Holy shit - Greg’s second (third? fourth?) coming! I’ve died and GONE to heaven!

    Thrift Score today:
DK’s-Fresh Fruit, original orange pressing w/ insert
    TSOL-first record
Black Flag-Everything Went Black, w/ all BF references rubbed out (was this done during battle w/ Unicorn?)
    Crucifix-Debut record
Nothing too rare, but shit, all for $4.00. Yeah! God bless you, Alameda Goodwill!

  • mrowster // December 31, 2007 at 5:32 pm

Right: that came out under threat of legal action from Unicorn. I recall Carducci talking about that pressing in one of his books, but I can’t seem find the quote right now.

Last charity shop score of mine netted the first S/T STRAWBS LP, a couple rare as hen’s teeth FAMOUS JUG BAND recs, and a groovy late 60’s Trojan Records dancehall comp. Yep, I certainly do live in London. Indeed.

Strawbs are WEIRD. A neighbor in the apartment building I live in came over one afternoon, handed me the CD of Strawbs that her then-boyfriend had burned her, and, with a BEMUSED look on her face, said, “Mark, I think that YOU might like this”!!!!
